How do you pronounce Paso Robles?

Many travelers come to San Luis Obispo County to visit the beautiful city of Paso Robles.

In 1772, the Spanish explorer Captain Juan Bautista de Anza passed through the area and named it “Paso de Robles,” or “Pass of the Oaks,” due to the large number of oak trees in the area.

Keeping this history in mind, here is how you say “Paso Robles” like a true Paso local! Though technically pronounced “robe-less” – around here we say “Robles” like marbles. But mostly, locals simply call it… Paso.
